painting demo 2015

I like to help each person to find their own style and which mediums suits them best. My work is mostlly figurative/impressionistic but I'm happy to encourage a variety of styles and subjects

My classes usually start  with a short demo. The basic skills of painting and drawing are taught . I try to pick a variety of subjects . All students are welcome to watch the demonstrations at the beginning of the session but I am also happy if students just want to get on with their own project.  We have a break half way through the session for tea, coffee and cake. There's usually plenty of time to help each person in these mixed ability classes. A weekly commitment is time out for you, to enjoy painting in a friendly relaxed environment, practising and playing with paint and escaping from the mundane.

There is paint, paper, brushes, and mounts for sale or to try out at the

classes, and an annual exhibition of work. The main focus is on

watercolour but you can also use other waterbased paints like

gouache, acrylic, and waterbased oils.

Classes are held on

Mondays : Conway Tennis Club, Conway Road, Southgate.

10-12.30am and 1-3.30pm 10 week term is £95

Also Wednesdays at my studio space in Hertford

‘Thank you  for all you do to open my eyes to appreciate the world. You give us so

much more than Mondays! And they are such fun’ Love from Judy

Thank you so much. I love the Art group and all the things I have learned from you.

I can’t wait to begin again after Easter. Enjoy the holiday’ Yours Julie ‘ I might even

Adult Classes ...

I enjoy teaching children and I’ve got lots of tips  and info on mediums, paint techniques

and good old basic drawing skills too.

Past topics have included cartooning (very important). monochrome, still life, watercolours, gouache, pen and

wash, perspective, colour balance and lots more.

My own three sons have done very well in art, 2 have exhibited at the Mall galleries, and my eldest came in the top ten in the UK in his GCSE, has now WON THE THREADNEEDLE, and had his own solo exhibition at the Mall Galleries.

I love encouraging other children too.
